Five Reasons to Get Excited About the All-New 2027 Genesis GV90

Published on Oct 14, 2026 by Erin White

The all-new 2027 Genesis GV90 isn't just the most lavish model to emerge from the South Korean automaker; it's here to set a new bar in the era of electrified luxury. The full-size electric SUV has set its sights on the upper end of the luxury segment with innovative features, premium materials, and the sort of power needed to challenge some of the market's most established names.

Boasting 657 hp, an all-new EV platform, heated wood floors, rear-opening coach doors, an estimated 310 miles of all-electric range, and more, the GV90 has all the makings of a true luxury model. Set to hit the market early next year, the new full-size SUV proves that a newer brand can give some of the industry's more established names a run for their money.

As your local Genesis dealer near Selma, Genesis Montgomery is always here to keep Alabama drivers abreast of the latest developments from the busy luxury brand. Let's explore some of the standout features of the new GV90 and learn how a luxury upstart could very well put the segment on notice.

#1 - The Platform

While many luxury models share a platform with mainstream counterparts, Genesis has opted for a decidedly different approach with the new GV90, using a bespoke eMP platform rather than the Hyundai Group's shared E-GMP platform.

The Hyundai Group's E-GMP platform underpins most of the brand's current offerings, including the Hyundai IONIQ lineup, the Kia EV6 and EV9, and even the GV90's smaller sibling, the GV60. The E-GMP has brought plenty of success to brands under the Hyundai umbrella, but Genesis' new flagship model deserves a bespoke platform.

While the modular E-GMP platform was designed to accommodate a wide range of models, the new eMP platform takes a more specialized approach that makes all the difference in terms of comfort, stability, and interior space.

The larger platform allowed Genesis to design the GV90 with a 127.8-inch wheelbase, creating a cavernous passenger compartment with seating for up to seven. Second- and third-row passengers will be able to ride in comfort without the cramped conditions found in some of the market's smaller three-row models.

The new EV platform also benefits from the lack of a traditional transmission tunnel. The GV90 eschews the typical transmission in favor of a set of reduction gears that occupy far less room, allowing Genesis to equip the SUV with a flat cabin floor that creates a large amount of usable cabin space. It's a solid base on which to build the luxury SUV of the future, and it's only available in the Genesis GV90.

#2 - The Battery

It's difficult to break a century's worth of automotive habits, but when comparing different EV models, it's the battery, not the motor, that really determines a vehicle's performance potential. While the 2027 GV90's two-motor design means that all-wheel drive is a standard feature on every trim, it's the SUV's massive battery that really makes the full-size crossover such a standout.

The 123.5 kWh battery dwarfs the options found on Hyundai's other EV offerings, giving Selma drivers the opportunity to enjoy an estimated 310 miles of worry-free cruising. When the battery does become depleted, it can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in as little as 22 minutes when connected to a DC fast-charging station.

This sort of convenience is key in any modern EV, but it's especially important in a luxury model. Shoppers browsing the upper end of the auto market expect a vehicle that conforms to their busy schedule, not the other way around.

The GV90's 123.5 kWh battery goes a long way toward upping the SUV's practical appeal, but it also has a noticeable impact on performance. The 2027 GV90 produces 657 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque, which is more than enough power to motivate the full-size model despite its estimated 6,680-lb curb weight. The SUV's performance potential is enhanced by its dual electronic limited-slip differentials, which ensure consistent traction and torque delivery while providing a little extra confidence in foul weather.

#3 - The Neolun

With a design philosophy inspired by traditional white-glazed Korean moon jars that embody the spirit of elegance, simplicity, and craftsmanship, the Neolun trim sees the GV90 take its luxury credentials to the next level.

The upper trim includes all the features one would expect from an established European ultra-luxury brand—coach doors, built-in refrigerators, and premium materials like genuine leather, cashmere, and even real stone—at a much more accessible price. Case in point: until the debut of the GV90, the most affordable luxury model equipped with coach doors was a Rolls-Royce that retailed for roughly $350,000.

The rear-opening Arch Gate doors aren't just a gimmick; they're a functional feature that speaks to the SUV's luxury intentions. The GV90 Neolun lacks the traditional B-pillars normally located behind the front-row doors, which, when combined with the coach doors, creates a wide opening that makes it much easier to elegantly enter and exit the rear cabin.

While front-seat passengers usually take priority, things are a little different in the ultra-luxury market, where buyers often spend more time in the rear seat while a driver handles all the duties behind the wheel. Upgrade to the Neolun First Edition trim, and you'll even be able to enjoy a genuine wood floor with an integrated radiant heating system that makes the GV90 feel like a true home away from home.

The Neolun can even serve as a sort of executive lounge on wheels, thanks to a unique seating arrangement. The luxurious trim is equipped with a set of swiveling front seats and second-row captain's chairs that allow all of the passengers to face one another when the vehicle is parked. The range-topping Neolun does forgo the third row, but adds foldable tables, a refrigerator, and retractable blinds that are perfect for ensuring privacy as you cruise through Selma.

#4 - The Comfort Factor

Comfort comes standard when you choose the new 2027 Genesis GV90. The full-size SUV is full of features that are designed to smooth out the bumps in the road and provide owners with an opulent driving experience. These comfort features include:

  • Air Suspension: A multi-chamber air suspension with adjustable stiffness that can quickly conform to different road conditions.
  • Rear Wheel Steering: This unique steering system allows the back wheels to turn up to five degrees to improve maneuverability and stability, which is especially helpful in low-speed scenarios.
  • Acoustic Glass: This sound-dampening glass is applied to every window, including the overhead Vision Roof. Designed to reduce exterior noise, the acoustic glass works in tandem with the SUV's soundproofing filler to provide a bit of tranquility.

Leather upholstery is par for the course in a luxury model, but the GV90 goes above and beyond with heated, ventilated, and massaging seats for rear-seat passengers. The seats feature 15 air cells and a pulse-vibration feature that'll help you unwind after a long day of meetings, or a quick 18 at your local golf course.

The SUV will also keep you warm and cozy when winter weather hits Selma, thanks to its radiant heating elements, which can be found in the first- and second-row armrests, side panels, and door trim. A metal-coated heated windshield easily repels snow and ice without obscuring your view, while the world's first roof-mounted airbag protects passengers in the event of a rollover.

Speaking of safety, the Neolun trim is even equipped with a reinforced roll cage that makes up for the lack of a traditional B-pillar. High-strength steel tubes and structural foam make for a more robust body, but Genesis has also designed the Neolun with a frame that's 1.5 times thicker than the average SUV for good measure.

Throw in a full complement of advanced safety tech, including Remote Smart Parking Assist 3 and Memory Reversing Assist features, and it's easy to see why there's so much buzz around the new GV90.

#5 - The Technology

Luxury models always go above and beyond when it comes to in-vehicle tech, and the 2027 GV90 is no different. The GV90 starts to showcase its tech-forward design the moment you approach the SUV. The vehicle starts as soon as you touch the door handles, and the doors automatically close when you enter, but it's the unique start-up sequence that really showcases the SUV's innovative spirit.

Once the doors close, the Crystal Sphere Controller in the center console rotates into place, the Motion Column Shifter moves from its off to on position, and a set of aluminum covers slides open to reveal the audio system's tweeters. It's a warm welcome by any measure, but the GV90's innovative appeal doesn't stop there.

The dashboard is dominated by a generous 23.6-inch OLED Cinematic Display that serves as both infotainment screen and gauge cluster. When the vehicle is parked, the high-definition display can be raised to provide a more cinematic aspect ratio and turn the SUV into a sort of mobile media room. Those seeking a more traditional dashboard arrangement can leverage the GV90's 25-inch head-up display, which projects important driving data right onto the lower portion of the windshield.

The flagship model also includes an Ambient Glow mood lighting system, Genesis' new Pleos Connect infotainment software, a built-in dashcam, and a driver monitoring system that can use facial recognition to load your preferred settings. However, it's the SUV's stereo system that deserves a closer look.

The GV90's 25-speaker Bang & Olufsen Premier 3D sound allows owners to enjoy their favorite albums or playlists in crystal-clear conditions. Genesis has brought out the big guns, leveraging the latest Dolby Atmos system and even including a Virtual Venue feature that can recreate the sound profile of famous concert venues such as Boston Symphony Hall and Wembley Stadium.

Experience the Future of Luxury at Genesis Montgomery

The new 2027 Genesis GV90 represents a significant leap forward for the luxury brand. Genesis has already carved out a compelling niche with models like the GV70 and GV80, but the GV90's new eMP EV platform provides the size, space, and comfort required to take on the upper end of the luxury segment.

While the SUV is notable from a performance perspective, it's those little details that really cement the GV90's luxury credentials. From its heated wood floor and cashmere upholstery to the coach doors, massaging seats, and pop-up OLED display, the full-size model introduces some cutting-edge features while still honoring the established luxury formula.

With its bold design, premium materials, and advanced technology, the Genesis GV90 offers a first-class experience that you won't soon forget.
